Reiterating. Forced to sign contract. If I leave, still have to pay rent until contract runs out.

I realise, but you have to sign it to stay there which is what I quite clearly meant.

and i meant you should have stayed in a caravan park or something until you found something cheaper.. nonetheless you're responsible for paying so much a week in board because you signed the agreement in the first place

I had to live where i live due to uni. And I DON'T live on my own. I NEED the internet, if I am to pass university. I don't HAVE luxuries. I'm in debt due to a car accident so fuck yourself. I LIVE in share housing. Common sense? I can't LEAVE, if I do I STILL have to pay $390 a week. You tell me how I am supposed to leave and rent a cheaper place elsewhere while still paying that? You don't NEED to live where you are. If you are paying $390 a week in share housing, you are in the middle of the city. All the Universities in Canberra are very easily accessible by public transport if you don't have a car. It works for thousands of other people. You can't afford to live in the middle of the city for convenience. That is a luxury right there. As for the internet, I think you'll find hundreds of thousands of degrees, even Doctorates, have been achieved without the use of the internet. The $50 a fortnight, 8mbit cable connection is definitely not a necessity, and certainly a luxury you can't afford. Internet access is free in the uni computer labs if absolutely necessary. People get out of leases they can't afford all the time. You let your landlord know, and you find somebody else to take over your lease. A landlord will be more than happy in general to let you go if they think you might start having trouble paying the rent, especially if you are willing to stay until somebody else takes your place. A lease is not some unbreakable contract. It just gives the landlord recourse if you decide to disappear without telling them. Yes, common sense. Still something you can't get from a university degree...

Ok, let's stop bashing me now lol. I don't take hand-outs, and I do realise it's all my fault.
My point was mearly that people earning less than top dollar generally struggle more.

I agree with that. Your situation sucks man. I'm personally in around $24,000 debt to the UK Goverment for university loans and the like.
Also, Mr. Rudd was kind enough to give me $900 even though I'm a British citizen. WIN.

Good on him. I love our offshore recipients. I know a guy living in Korea who got his $900 lol.

To be fair, I earned money and paid tax on 2007/8, so I qualify.

Did you pay the tax to the Australian Government? But yeah, i do see your point, they rushed it through and when you do that stuff happens. Some people TRIPLE dipped. Got $2750, just because they met 3 different criteria.

I don't think they had the time. They rushed it through so quickly, that they couldn't crosscheck, they just threw it at the people and that was that.
