I just updated the "gigs" section (and I use the term loosely)...
There's more 'non-metal' type stuff than metal on there. Sad times.
Who here goes to such 'non-metal' type events? Should I bother putting them up? Tell me your thoughts...
I have been to Chrome a few times and I've been to a few gigs that weren't strictly metal.. I prefer metal gigs, personally.

It's not as though we have been short of good shows recently though. But yeah agreed on preferring metal. If it is just you posting all the other gigs, maybe you shouldn't bother, but let other people post them if they want to promote them

i maybe go to a few, it depends if it sounds interesting. but events like the tat thing and some closely aligned to metals would be fine eg chrome. guess if you cant be bothered posting it up dont worry.

I can be bothered.. I just wondered if you guys were actually interested.. Answer is mostly yes. Will continue.
Pretty much just trying to generate some conversation on the board.. Was hoping the replies would go something like "I like to go to blah blah blah" Maybe with reasons for why other people might attend such events.
Kurt, what's the problem with copy/pasting from facebook?

Well yes i will always certainly be interested in what else is happening around town. I love going to other types of events, Chrome, Rock gigs as quite often it is a great place to socialise. I love going to metal gigs to see bands but quite often find it hard to get a chance to talk to people before they leave after the show. It gets hard to chat while bands are playing. But if i go to things like Chrome, where DJs play dark dance type music. It's a place where i dont necessarily hate the music and get to spend all night talking to people. At rock gigs it's music that i enjoy listening to but don't find it necessary to be at the front of the stage to enjoy. I really liked it when Reggae occasionally did metal video nights at the basement, great music on in the background and plenty of time to talk to people and meet new people. Where as at most gigs all the spare time between bands i use catching up with people i already know rather than talking to new people

Erm, answer is actually overwhelmingly no.. Aaron - No Nathan - No Kurt - No Alie - Maybe Obviously we all have access to facebook, if you're not a mamber you have to sign up to read stuff anyway... The way you copy and paste stuff can make it look like you personally are organising every gig. At least use quotation marks/sources where appropriate. I can be bothered.. How is it different to Mikey playing cd's? Apart from the pretty pictures that you're probably not looking at if it's background to conversation? Reggae's video extravaganzas were only ever on nights when there were no bands booked, now Friday/Saturday nights are booked out for months. I have spoken to Mikey about doing something like this on Thursday nights but school nights are always hard to predict. Maybe once a month or something would work? I really liked it when Reggae occasionally did metal video nights at the basement, great music on in the background and plenty of time to talk to people and meet new people.

How often do you really see people turn up just to see Mikey play cds though? haha
I would certainly be keen on a once a month thing.

Kurt, what's the problem with copy/pasting from facebook? Yes, to most people being interested in things other than metal. The link to the facebook event is there to show the source. I posted those gigs for those who may not have facebook.. They can see all the info in my post without having to go to facebook. I thought it was pretty obvious which gigs are mine and which aren't.. Being that my gigs have my flyer with my logo.. Will be sure to make it more obvious from now on.
