I was so pissed off when I found out they weren't playing anymore. I was mainly going just FOR Destruction.
Taken from the Destruction official forum:
STATEMENT of the Australian JUST SAY ROCK promoter Nik:
The board of Just Say Rock cannot afford to bring Destruction down to Australia for the festival and other shows. I literally fought tooth and nail and tried everything in order to persuade them not to make this decision. However, I am not the owner and I do not fund the company, which was pointed out to me.
I am personally gutted, bitter and disappointed with the outcome but am powerless to change or alter the final outcome - no matter how hard I argued with them. Not helping my cause was that the venues in both Brisbane and Perth had spoken to Just Say Rock prior to this and wanted to either cancel the shows or bump Destruction into bars/pubs as the sales for these shows are poor with what they stated as "people showing little interest" in attending.
I can only imagine how disappointed you will all feel, if it is half of what I feel, it is terrible, especially after all the effort and work that went into this. For any correspondence on this matter contact one of the Board Members, owners and financiers of Just Say Rock direct; Tony Oxley. His email is tony@ic12.com.au He has been copied into this email.
Cannot say about screamfest as there are 18 other bands. I keep saying it, I did all I could and did all I can. God damn send these emails to the person that made this decision and not to me who had NO say in it. As for the fans if they god damn bought their tickets to your show I would not have been called into the office and been handed this news.

I've been lucky enough to talk to the members of Destruction, and they're 100% commited to playing anywhere and everywhere they can. Sadly, it seems that the lack of financial backing has worried their management to this point. Blisteringly good live as well.
I really want to hit this up.

Old post now, i know.
Ensiferum were definately the highlight of the fest. They played on the second night and were fuckin excellent. Great with the crowd, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Destroyer played the 11pm timelslot on the first night, so we rang in the new year with another brutal performance by the Australian Antichrists.
And what can i say. Emperor Caligula and the Dark Funeral boys were extremely grim gentlemen, who regailed us with many an old favourite on the second evening.
Other than that, i did watch other bands, but am sure will be forgiven for not remembering who you were, as i came down with a slight case of have a beer or get fucked.
