So im thinking of getting a new set of pickups in my Guitar, Its a BC Rich JR-V "Skull Pile" Body Art etc etc etc.. thing, All i know is i DON'T want EMG's, yuck!, And im not really into active pickups. I'm really keen on seymour duncans and im thinking of getting an "Invader" in the bridge for my fat chunky riffs, And something warm and jazzy in the neck for my lead/acoustic sounds. Anyway, Can someone please point me in the right direction so i dont spend a bunch of money on shit?

I dunno man, from what i've played they just dont seem as warm or versatile as the Seymour Duncans, I know their good pickups but there was something about the SD's that got me. I've found that emg's sound the same no matter what guitar their in but then again, its a pretty rockin sound! Maybe i should get one of each..

Seymor Duncan SH-13 might do well for you.
Or the Dimarzio X2N (been meaning to get one of these for a while myself)
Apparently Bareknuckle pickups are awesome, but they're retardedly expensive.
If you can find them, you could also try a Bill Lawrence L500XL, but be careful, you have to get the USA made ones, not the ones from the offshoot company

sweet man ill check those out. Dimarzio were a brand i just sort of overlooked but everyone seems to be reccomending them, yeah i'd be heaps keen for a set of barenuckle pickups, also jon schaffers signature icebuckers are at the top of my list, but i dont wanna end up buying them just because im a fanboy.

Bah don't worry about the "fanboy" bullshit, haha. At the end of the day we've all bought something for this exact reason, whether we wanna admit it or not I still own an Explorer to this day coz i wanted to be Jamed Hetfield at one point (before he turned into a whiny, bitching old woman of course!!) Just don't be dumb enough to get sucked into the whole "if i buy a Jon Schaffer pickup, i'll automatically sound just like Jon Schaffer" mentallity Besides, if something sounds good, thats all that matters, who gives a fuck who's signature is on it......... Happy hunting......

Good move on getting rid of those pickups, BC Rich pickups are by and large total ass, far too fuzzy and no definition to them. I heard you play that guitar through a Mesa at Chaos...IV?, honest truth I thought it sounded horrible.
SD: Get a '59 in the neck for your acoustic and clean sounds. I wouldn't advise getting one passive and one active, it'll be a clusterfuck to change in the future.
On EMGs I wouldn't completely disregard them. They're very high output, but if you fuck up people will notice. They don't have a lot of character.
I'd honestly say that it might be worth saving up and getting an all round better guitar, an mid-range ESP, Dean, Jackson or even the Gibson Shred-V.
Bare Knuckles are great, the guitar shop in Fyshwick is listed as a dealer, so check 'em out. I have a set of Rebel Yells, and they're amazing, but you'd probably be after a ceramic set like the Miracle Man or Cold Sweat.
My advice would be; buy a better guitar and then pop some new pickups in if you're still not happy with it. A $400 dollar BC Rich will only improve slightly with new pickups, there are too many other factors to consider. What amp do you play through normally?

All really good advice, agree totally.....except for one thing... If you're gonna buy Bareknuckles (or anything else really) try your best to buy online if you can. Only ever use shops (in particular "that guitar shop in fyshwick" which shall remain nameless) as an absolute last resort. I only say this coz the owner of said nameless guitar store (who also owns a supposedly "better" music store in Philip, so don't think you're outsmarting him by going there instead) is an arrogant profiteering arsehole who will more or less bend you over the counter, take every possible dollar from your wallet and then set said wallet on fire and rape you in the arse with it, before he allows you to walk out the door with anything they stock..... Seriously, it may take a bit longer to get your stuff, but it's worth the savings you'll almost always make Having said all that, did you end up having any luck?

^Actually, I did drop my guitar into BM in Philip, and charged me $60 as far as I can tell for changing the strings, despite telling them I wanted a full setup. Davis Wheeler are hands down the best music shop in Canberra, even better now they have a wider range of axes in.
Aye, with BKPs the website is the way to go, got mine to me in 10 days...all orders are built from scratch in their workshop.

Yeah BM/PA really are a pack of wankers, man. All they are interested in is the contents of your wallet, they don't give a shit about helping you find what you actually NEED (although i will say that the techy dude out the back at BM is actually ok. I dare say one of the blokes on the front counter would've done the "setup" on your guitar. you're not the first person i've heard of this happening to)
Davis wheeler are good. But also, although they are still pretty small, I can't recommend Pirana Music highly enough.
