The other day i was driving into the city and for once the sign for The Braddon Club caught my eye. Main reason being was they were promoting having a "Live Band" hardly believe it would be metal but I had never thought about that old club as a live venue. Does anyone know anything about this club and would it be suitable to look into for a metal show? Would be nice to have another venue in the city, and it is out of the way but still closer to the city than ANU. I cant find much info about it online, this is about the best i can find www.citybars.com.au/Canberra_bars/The_Braddon_Club/Bar/24840

Dunno man, probably the best bet would be to call em and ask. But i definitely agree, a city based venue would be cool Is this the club downstairs next to the police shopfront in Garema?

No this is the Club that is next to the playing field in Braddon. Like up near the service stations and a block next to the civic pub. If you look at the web address i put in the initial post it shows a map as well.

Ah i remember that place, that's where that dude got knifed in the carpark a few years back ( i think it was gang related, nothing to do with the pub) i went to a Deviant Plan/Grovel gig there back in the good ol days. It was ok, no stage or PA from memory but again, this was like, a decade ago, so shit may have changed. Would be worth looking into

Years ago they had a stage there, but the area is, of course, full of pokies now. They used to call it "The Cave" and have bands every Thursday night. They were generally pretty poorly attended but at least the management were prepared to take a punt and it was fun while it lasted.
I know it's one of the reasons people give for not going to gigs.. "If it was in Civic I'd go" "Belco's too far away" "Wanniasa is the arse end of nowhere" (OK I made that one up) etc. But frankly gig attendance in every area seems to be pretty shithouse. Maybe the live music scene is going back into hibernation, or maybe it's just metal?

Ha, Braddon? I lived in fecking Gordon and came to every gig I could make. A local place just folded here, which is pretty sad...but a new place in Braddon could be sweet. It beats the fuck out of playing the same place over and over.
