Do these guys seem to cop a lot of shit on brismetal? Or am i missing some sort of joke? I haven't heard 'em yet (stuck with dial-up for a few weeks and takes too long to load audio) so I'm not passing judgement eitherway, was just curious

Yeah, they cop alot of shit, mostly because they do breakdowns and are fairly deathcore-ish. They are very skilled though. I'm a huge fan.

I think they were when they first started. Their 3track EP seemed fairly christian. I'm fairly certain they have moved away from that now.

If they are a good band, they are a good band, simple. Like it or not, breakdowns (or "groove riffs" as they used to be called) were around loooong before the hardcore kiddies got hold of 'em, re-named 'em and started releasing entire albums of them. Some of Cryptopsy's earlier stuff had "breakdowns" all over the shop, and no-one seemed to care. And that's just one example. "Breakdowns" is just a term the hardcore kids apply to pretty much any riff which has a groove to it, so all of a sudden if a metal band put any groove oriented riffs into a song, they get shat on and ridiculed for being "core" Pretty stupid if you ask me

Their 3track EP seemed fairly christian. I'm fairly certain they have moved away from that now. Ah, so closet christians, eh? Even worse.. Not really, I think they just decided to take the band in a different direction. They were never a christian band, but they had christian overtones, and I think they just decided it was time for a change.

Religious zealotry, be-it in music or otherwise, is fucking retarded no matter what side of the fence you sit on. It's a touch hypocritical to bag one band for being christian, only to turn around and put on a Deicide album. Anyways, were getting into a very different argument now...........

Totally are, we should make a thread in the discussion section. However it's not so much about zealotry unless your songs are entitled, 'Praise be to Jesus' and 'Death to faggots', 'dykes burn in righteous fury' and whatnot. Just because something has religious overtones wether for (cross) or counter (deicide) doesn't make it zealos.
